Artist Bio

I am an artist, teacher and therapist. I have painted, drawn and created as far back as I can remember: some of my most vivid memories from childhood involve me getting lost in the magic of colour! I have experienced many setbacks to my art practice across my life. I would say that one of the first major obstacles was being labelled ‘academic’ at school and therefore being discouraged from taking up art. I came of age in the UK in the 1970s and 1980s; little value was placed on creative subjects and they were considered to be ‘undesirable’ or ‘too soft’. I began to take my art practice seriously again in May 2016 and I have spent the last year and a half in a very productive phase indeed. The paintings in this online exhibition give some examples of the images produced over this time.

I work in mixed media on board, canvas and paper etc. I am fascinated by the infinite possibilities mixed media presents: this range becomes even greater when different surfaces are taken into account. You can find out more about me and my work on my website:

I have a regular monthly blog here, plus galleries and events etc. I also post frequent updates on my Facebook page so, if you like this particular platform, it’s a good way to connect with me. I hope you enjoy this exhibition! I am very, very grateful indeed to Kimm Wiens for putting this showcase of my work together. Much love to you, Kimm!
